FOOD as MEDICINE Part 2
Because raw-food is still alive, it raises the ‘aliveness’ of cells, which in turn raises the vibration of the cells. The higher the vibration of the body becomes, the less it will be susceptible to pathogens and other illnesses. (in Glimpses of God I have written more about the energy vibrations of foods, pathogens and emotions and their effects). A low vibration does not just affect the physical body, but also has a huge impact on the energetic body – where dis-ease manifest first – and on the mind and the psyche. Living on a diet of dead food also lowers the body’s ability to heal itself. The body has the capacity to regulate and heal itself and return to homeostasis, if given the correct fuel and support to do so.
As mentioned in Part 1, our cells are programmed with the knowledge of what is needed and thus can select what is useful. It discards which is toxic and unnecessary. When this selection process is lowered, cell reproduction, weakening of capillaries and a buildup of waste products happens. This leads to degeneration, bacteria flourishes, genetic damage, aging and chronic illness.
Slow poisoning due to a high intake of proteins, fats and refined/processed foods and a deficiency of vital nutrients, leads to huge problems at the cellular level. The cells cannot pick up oxygen and nutrients and cannot eliminate waste, the potassium/sodium and acid/alkaline balance is thrown out and the body is pushed to a cancerous state.
There might not yet be physical symptoms and the person will carry on with life, but will feel fatigue and no real vitality because the body is just surviving but is not healthy. Raw food improves and heightens this selection process (as indeed have been proven at the University of Vienna), and so the regulation and transportation of nutrients improves and gradually detoxifies the system.
Organically grown foods consumed raw are high in potassium and low in sodium.
Raw foods increase cell oxygenation.
Normal cell respiration is restored by a raw diet.
Raw plant food and sprouted seeds and grains eliminates wastes and toxins.
It restores optimal sodium/potassium and acid/alkaline balance.
Its supplies and restores the level of nutrients essential for optimal cell function.
It increases the efficiency with which cells take up oxygen, necessary for the release of energy.
Raw plant food can prevent and help heal cancer and tumors.
Sprouted seeds and grains and naturally fermented raw foods are also very beneficial and necessary to the body.
Too much protein is especially implicated in cancer. Too much leads to nitrogenous wastes, deficiencies in the B-vitamin B6 and niacin, calcium, magnesium, and other minerals. It puts enormous strain on the pancreas – and it is the pancreas that is responsible for protein-digesting and cancer-fighting enzymes. Animal protein should be taken as a “side salad” and /or be seen as a supplement if and when the body needs it.
Live raw juices do the same as eating raw foods but puts less strain on the digestive system and the concentrated nutrients are quickly absorbed into the bloodstream. I find that blending the raw ingredients and drinking it works better for people with IBS, or other digestive problems. I also prefer that it is mostly blended and not just juiced as the fiber is essential for constipation, diabetes, abdominal cancers and other digestive issues, and health in general.
In addition to vitamins and minerals, uncooked food contains essential oils, natural antibiotics, plant hormones, bioflavonoids, chlorophyll, anthocyans and different forms of fiber.
Just as there are a medicine for all ailments to be found in plants, there are active substances in plant food that have a positive effect on all aspects of health.
Some, like the anthocyans, pectin and chlorophyll, help protect the body against airborne pollutants, radiation, cancer and aging.
As with herbal /plant medicine, raw food is chemically balanced by nature and work on more than just one aspect but rather on the whole organism. Herbal medicine and raw plant food taken together work synergistically for high-level health.
Dr Henning Karstrom, a Swedish expert says, ‘even though you get all 50 known nutrients in your diet – i.e. vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids, fatty acids, etc. – your health will still suffer unless you also include large quantities of uncooked and unprocessed foods.’
In Part 3 I will continue with the medicinal and other benefits of raw food, starting with essential oils, bitters etc.
